FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Check out the answers to some of my most frequently asked questions below. If there’s something you still need to know or an answer isn’t detailed enough, please get in touch for more information.

WHAT IS PELVIC HEALTH PHYSICAL THERAPY?
The pelvic floor is a bowl shaped structure (including the musculature, ligaments, connective tissue, and nerves) that support important organs such as your bladder, bowel/intestines, prostate, and uterus. It has a significant role in stabilizing your core as well as how your bowel/bladder/reproduction/sexual systems function. Pelvic health PT focuses on restoring and optimizing function. See services provided to look at some common conditions treated.
DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
I currently do not accept insurance. If you are experiencing financial hardships that is preventing you from seeking care, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I am committed to ensuring that pelvic health therapy is accessible to everyone who needs it.
WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE FOR THE VISIT
Our initial consultation will involve a comprehensive discussion of various aspects of your health and lifestyle, such as bowel and bladder function, sexual health, medical and surgical history, dietary habits, and physical activity. This will help us develop a personalized care plan that caters to your specific needs.
I will also conduct a thorough evaluation of your mobility, strength, and flexibility. To assess your pelvic floor, we may perform an internal vaginal and/or rectal exam depending on your comfort level and if appropriate for your care.
Pelvic floor therapy can be a sensitive matter. Your comfort and autonomy during the sessions are a priority. You have complete control over the course of our sessions and we will work together to ensure that you feel safe and supported throughout the process.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

On average, between 5-10 sessions. My ultimate goal is to equip you with the skills you need to maintain long-term independence and wellness. Every plan of care is individualized and we will work together to establish a plan that works for you.
DO I NEED TO RESCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT IF I AM ON MY PERIOD?
No. Being on your period is not a contraindication to doing internal work and will not affect treatment. However, everyone has a different experience with menstruation and it is up to you if you are comfortable with internal pelvic floor work or not.
